More than 2 million Americans of all ages have epilepsy and other seizure disorders. Five to 10 percent of the American population will have at least one seizure in their lifetime, and 30 percent of those will go on to develop epilepsy. Many patients find themselves overwhelmed by the physical and emotional impact of uncontrolled seizures or intolerable medication side effects, making it difficult for them and their families to live fulfilling and independent lives. Fortunately, the innovative treatment and diagnostic methods offered at facilities like Arkansas Epilepsy Program continue to improve the quality of life for persons with epilepsy.
The Arkansas Epilepsy Program (AEP) is the largest epilepsy program in Arkansas. AEP was founded exclusively for the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy, and features a comprehensive epilepsy program utilizing antiepileptic investigational drug trials, innovative monitoring devices and surgical techniques.
Our staff has more than 20 years of experience diagnosing and treating epilepsy. AEP's Director, Dr. Victor Biton, is Board Certified in Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology, and is an Epileptologist (a neurologist with significant specialty training dealing with epilepsy).
